Muntjac deer, also known as Reeves’ muntjac, are a small species of deer native to parts of South East Asia. Unlike many other deer species, males possess both short antlers and elongated canine teeth referred to as tusks. This unique feature makes their skulls particularly fascinating, almost resembling a mythical creature.
This skull is the one you will receive. It is from an older buck and so has one chipped fang but a lot of character.
These skulls are sourced through pest management programs in Europe, where muntjac are an introduced species. Their sourcing does not impact native wild populations and forms part of ongoing population management efforts.
